“Tena shrebindubhihjata martye rudrakshabhuruhah”

Rudraksha trees emerged in the human world from the tears of Lord Shiva’s eyes. It is said that to defeat the mighty and powerful demon Tripura, Lord Shiva performed intense penance for thousands of years to obtain divine weapons. When He struck Tripura with these celestial weapons, their radiance caused His eyes to close. Upon reopening them, teardrops fell from His eyes, and from these sacred drops, Rudraksha trees came into existence. The seeds obtained from their fruits are called Rudraksha, and they are considered to be the eyes of Lord Shiva.

Rudraksha possesses a unique spiritual electrical energy. Yogis, sages, and ascetics have been wearing it for centuries during intense penance and for self-preservation. This sacred Rudraksha is believed to destroy immense sins. Rudrakshas with different numbers of faces (mukhis) hold distinct powers. Simply touching them yields a hundred thousand times the benefits, while wearing them grants millions of times more spiritual merit.

रुद्राक्ष का आविर्भाव

“तेना श्रेबिंदुभिर्जाता मर्त्ये रुद्राक्षभूरुहाः”

भगवान शिव के नेत्रों के जल से मनुष्य लोक में रुद्राक्ष के वृक्ष उत्पन्न हुए। ऐसा कहा जाता है कि त्रिपुर नामक एक महान् शक्तिशाली व पराक्रमी दैत्य का वध करने के लिये भगवान शिव ने हजारों वर्ष तपस्या करके दिव्य अस्त्र शस्त्र प्राप्त कर त्रिपुर दैत्य पर वार किया। उन शस्त्रों की चमक से भगवान के नेत्र बन्द हो गये और जब नेत्र खुले तो उसमें जल की कणिका नेत्रों से गिरी। उन्हीं नेत्रों के जल से रुद्राक्ष उत्पन्न हो गये। फलों से प्राप्त बीज को ही रुद्राक्ष कहते हैं तथा इसको भगवान शिव के नेत्र भी मानते हैं।

रुद्राक्ष में एक विशिष्ट चैतन्य विद्युत ऊर्जा होती है। योगी, साधु, तपस्वी इन्हें पहनकर वर्षों घोर तपस्या तथा जीवन रक्षा के लिये धारण करते आए हैं। यह पतित पावन रुद्राक्ष असह्य पाप समूहों को नष्ट करने वाला माना गया है। भिन्न भिन्न मुखों वाले रुद्राक्ष में अलग-अलग प्रकार की शक्ति होती है। इनको स्पर्श मात्र से लाख गुणा तथा धारण करने से करोड़ गुणा फल प्राप्त होता है।
